MCE signs contract for solar plus storage with Renewable America

The project represents the first contract by MCE for local battery storage.

The Ranch Sereno project, which is located Contra Costa County, is a part of MCE’s Feed-In Tariff Plus program and includes 2 megawatts of solar and an 800-kilowatt battery. MCE expects to pay $8 million for the energy generation and storage capacity at this site over the next 20 years.

The in person 13th Annual California Climate & Energy Forum brings together several hundred local government staff, elected officials, and community organizations, so they can collaborate and learn from each other in their efforts to advance fair and equitable climate change and energy practices.

The Rancho Sereno project will generate enough electricity to power over 800 homes annually and will include storage with a 4-hour dispatch capacity. The energy generated by the solar project will be stored during the day when demand prices are low, and discharged during the high demand hours of 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
